Jean Capris

How are y'all this fine Wednesday? I'm definitely feeling the effects of too many half-nighters, a cold, allergies, and a swamping amount of work today. Just made myself a coffee+milk+frozen raspberry+ice shake and I'm feeling a lot better. :D

I'm wearing pants today since I had to go to the Chiropractor's this morning. He can adjust me in a skirt, but I have to do some weird contortions and I feel more comfortable in jeans. :)

Shirt: Thrift store
Tank: Penny's
Jacket: Sears
Capris: Old Navy
Flip Flops: Sears (I just realized I switched my nice leather-look flip flops for these to work in the garden and forgot to switch back for the pictures. oh well.)

I went shopping on Monday and found some new things! This super-soft-and-comfy jacket I scored at Sears for $4 and the jean capris were on clearance at Old Navy for $16.

I love the capris, but they aren't very slimming across my backside so I was glad to discover my new jacket covers the jeans enough to make them more flattering. :)

As I was trying on pair after pair of jeans on Monday, I realized that the best fit-without-a-belt style for me was low-rise. They sit right above my hips and fit nicely on the back waist without gaping too bad. Maybe y'all already have this figured out, but don't just discount low-rise jeans as being immodest next time you're hunting; many of them actually aren't low at all! :)

Are y'all excited for the One Skirt | Three Days | Three Bloggers party this weekend?! I'm stoked! I think I've finally figured out which skirt to wear... it's one I don't think I've ever blogged.  I haven't worn it since last May since its not very flattering so this will be a fun challenge! :)

  3. I have a question about pants. What advice would you offer to keep your pants up when you bend over?
    Thanks, Britney

    1. That is hard! What I do is just as I squat or bend over, I pull my jeans up a little bit so they're tighter in the thighs and that gives more room to bend, if that makes sense. I also always wear a tight tank when I wear jeans so that I can pull it waaay down over the top of my jeans and help them stay up, keep the back from gaping, and covering up any other problems. :)

I hope your allergies get better! My whole family and most of my friends have been hit pretty bad by them this year, though I'm ok so far!

  12. Love your outfit! I have a similarly-draped cardi that I bought on clearance from Downeast & have been wondering how to style it now that it's warmer out. Your earrings are super pretty as well & I love the contrast of purple & green. Did your sister make those?

  14. You look so pretty! I love this outfit, this is something that you would probably find me wearing. And yes, low rise jeans? You can wear them. :) I typically just wear long shirts/tanks with them so they won't fall off of me.

  15. Low rise jeans always fit me better as well. I think it just depends on your body type. And like you said up there ^^ I usually wear super long tanks with pants to cover everything properly when I bend over! :-)

  17. I wish there was an easy way to make jeans more flattering in the rear. Works great if you have something long to wear over them, but what can you do if that's not practical? Very frustrating.

    1. I've discovered that the whole trick to making jeans flattering is the pockets. Certain shapes, sizes, and decorations can make any rear look good. Unfortunately, those are really hard to find. :P Yes, it is frustrating... thus why I wear skirts most of the time! :)

  19. Nice! Like your outfit. And it is neat that you go to a chiropractor. My dad is a chiro, so I always notice when people mention that they go to one. =)
