Miss Watson

Busy times, these! Its always so good to have one day of rest in every seven- I know I need every single Lord's Day!
My hat today is kind of "Watson" like, from Sherlock Holmes. It's one of those black fedoras with the weird purple ribbon and big blue flower from Target, but with that taken off and the sides pinned up.

There was a flash rainstorm just before we took these pictures, hence the raindrops on my hat!

 Dress: Goodwill
Jacket: Khol's
Belt: Thrift Store
Leggings: Walmart
Polkadot flats: Payless

I curled my hair before I braided it this morning. I pulled some the braid so it was a little looser- people thought it was some kind of fancy braid! Win. :D I also curled the little loose hairs around my face with a 1/2" iron and they worked well with the hat. :)

The grey piece above my dress was just a scrap of this shirt I picked up off my floor and pinned on- I would have preferred black, but time was of the essence. :P

Well, we're off to a friend's house for the rest of the day!

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
~Philippians 2:1-4

  1. I love the quick, non-fussy things you did that all look great together! Question: do you do anything to your eyebrows? If so, what?

  2. Hey :) I love your blog, it's so fresh and different and your outfits are beautiful :) I was wondering, do you have to cover your head for church? You always seem to wear a hat on Sundays!

    1. Thanks! No, I don't *have* to cover my head-- In the spirit of 1 Corinthians 11 I choose to show outwardly the respect and submission to authority that I hope to have in my heart by wearing something on my head for public worship. :) I get this question a lot so I plan on answering it in fuller detail in a future q&a post. :)

    1. Haha, I wish! :P I do always try to be presentable, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. :P I also generally try to just post pictures that would be encouraging to others... not really pictures of my grubbies that wouldn't really inspire creative dressing. ;)

    2. Good answer! ;) I have a cold right now, so I will NOT be posting pictures of me on my blog... :)

  8. Super cute! I love the dress, and the creative way that you made the neckline more modest!(: and I love your hair!
Thanks for sharing that verse too.(: It's been awhile since I read that one, and it's good to be reminded!(:

  9. Hey, thanks for sharing your outfits, I know it takes a few minutes out of your busy day but it helps my outfits, since I have zero fashion sense! :) I was just wondering if you could tell me how you put the Pin It button beneath each blog entry. I put it on my blog but could only figure out how to put it at the very bottom of every page - not very accesible. Thanks!

    1. Katherine, No, I'm not a SDA, but I like to call Sunday the Lord's Day to remind myself of what the 1-in-7-rest is all about. :)

    2. I need all my Sunday rests too! :) Except, I have church on Saturdays now, so Sundays are really restful! Great time to reflect on God and just take a little time to sit and think. Gives me more time to have a meaningful quiet time!

    3. Do you go to a SDA church Alexandra? I have recently since I learned the Sabbath truth - God actually has the fourth out of ten commandment which says to rest on Saturday! I was amazed :)
I'd gone on Sunday for a while there too...

We spend the whole week looking forward to Friday evening plus Saturday, especially since we just need the breaks. And God says so!! Haha.

      Blessings!

  13. Hey,
I love your blog and all the question you answer are so great. I was wandering what you thought about witnessing and if you do?

    1. If by "witnessing" you mean going out, say, in a public area and deliberately talking with people to share the Gospel, I'm all for it! But I'm more personally in favor of just sharing with those who naturally come across my path. :)
