Awkward Carrots

It's Thursday{thursday}Thursday{thursday} It's Thursssdaaaaayyy...

Yes, I'm raaaather tired today. My body is screaming sloooooowwwwDOWN so that's what I did today. I'm so thankful for my sister who picks up my slack when I need her to. :)

 Awkward:
  • Thinking someone is joking about not being able to attend your sister's birthday party because he's having ingrown toenail surgery. And then getting texted a picture.
  • Walking around with your iPhone playing music from your back pocket. And then realizing it's still playing when you're dropping by at the neighbor's.
  • T-post driving in the dark. In the daytime it's not exactly the most graceful activity, but in the dark when there's hard shadows on everything from the headlights, it's even worse.
  • Going to help someone, not know what you're doing, and them totally not needing your help anyway.
  •  When your mother calls up to your bedroom, needing help, and wondering what's taking you so long to get dressed... "What are you doing?!" "...sewing my shirt..." :P
  • Blowing fuses when company is over.
  • Taking pictures with a carrot. Organic, farm-fresh little carrots are the yummiest thing ever. I've eaten like 15 in the last two days.
 Awesome:
  • My sister Emma being done school for the summer. I missed working with her as she secluded herself these last several weeks cramming. :)
  • Driving t-posts straighter in the dark than in the daylight. :-p
  • How many of y'all share a knowledge of animal fiascos!
  • I try not to keep track of how many followers I have lest I get stage fright, but being 10 friends away from 400 followers is pretty awesome. Um... THATS A LOT OF PEOPLE. We should have a great big party. Rent out a stadium or something. Maybe there's not that many of you, but still.  And everyone who comments is So. stinkin. nice. I'm flabbergasted. And happy if I can bless you somehow. :)
  • Waffle bars. We had one for my sister's 16th birthday this week and it was sooo good. Banana bread waffles with maple walnut cream cheese spread are daaaa bommmb. So is raspberry butter and whip cream. And carrot cake. And gluten-free. We were making waffles until 11pm. :)
  • Early mornings spent bushhogging-- I think I live in the prettiest place on earth. :)
I had to mow down the flowers. :(

And.... Yes, I'm wearing this skirt on the blog aaaaagain.  But, it is my favorite, most versatile, and the most practical thing in my closet. Nothing like a great piece of clothing. :)

Hair: Thrown up with a clip and a flower. Definitely a messy bun day. Looked better after my 2 hour nap. :)

Shirt: Handmedown, finally altered to fit again after it stretched out. :P
Tank: JCP
Skirt: Made by me

Have a fantastic evening y'all!

Wow...the ingrown toenail photo must have been pretty awkward! But at least he had a good excuse for not going...we threw a party for my sister tonight, and out of my whole huge family, only two people remembered to show up. :P everyone simply forgot! But we made up for it with extra cake and ice cream and a nice big fire.(; I hope your sister's party turned out great!

    1. I saw some brown maxi skirts at Wal-Mart. At least, I think they were maxi skirts. When I went looking for them again, bringing my money, they only had them in XL sizes. :( I had to settle for a slightly less awesome blue ankle-length skirt.
Hope this helps at least a little,

  20. Hey Olivia, I have only been following you for several weeks now but your photography is just simply amazing. the pictureof the field is one of my favorites of all your photos. what kind of camera do you use???you think someone starting a first blog should invest in an expensive camera? or do you think that a regular old camera will do?or even an android phone cam.... I just started my first blog today and thought maybe you would be the person to ask :)

    1. Thank you! I actually took that picture of the field with my iPhone 4s (8 megapixel, I think) and edited it in Adobe Lightroom. :P For my outfit pictures, I use a Nikon D3100 with a 50mm 1.8 lens. As far as blogging goes, if your blog's purpose is centered around photos, then a nice camera and lens is helpful. I got the camera just so our family photos would be nicer, not just my blog pictures. I love being able to create beautiful images easier. :) Hope that helps!

    1. Hey Holly! Thanks! Yes, I'm a big fan of skirts. Not only do I find it easier to be modest in them, but they make me feel feminine and graceful. :) I wear pants to do farm work in occasionally, but those outfits aren't usually worth posting. :D
      Blessings!

  25. Ok, I looked up Butterick 3134 and I want to buy it (and it's on SALE!!) but it looks like all the skirts are only mid-calf length on the pattern but on you they're almost floorlength. Do you lengthen them? I'm tall (5'7" or so) and wondered if you had any advice. I want mine floorlenght! Thanks!

    ~Wineveria

    1. Yes, I lengthen the pattern by about 8", and I'm only 5'2"! I just continue the angle of the sides to the length I need. :) Hope that helps!

    2. Yep it does, thanks so much. I'll be sewing some 3134's up soon, hopefully!

  26. Hey you are so cute and love your blog, I just read all of it. Anyway I was wondering why I rarely see you (and girls on other modesty blogs) wearing white skirts. Is it a modesty issue? I have a long white peasant skirt that I love. It is so comfortable.

    1. Interesting observation! I've never heard of anyone having an issue with wearing white skirts... I love the look! I have several but I just find them incredibly impractical so I don't wear them often. :) I really want a long white maxi... so classy. ;)

    2. If I had a white skirt, I'd probably love it to death, and wear it once, then it would be ruined foever with a stain or something :-(

So yea, not the most practical at all! :-)
