Blue Hat

Hey y'all! How's your Lord's Day been? Mine's been great and relaxing. I enjoyed a splendid nap in the hammock and had fun watching a softball game after church. Our sermon was on 1 Samuel 15 where it's the end of Saul's time as king. Samuel is reflecting on all that Saul has done.

The main take-aways for me were 1) Life does not work when we live on our own strength and reject God's reign in our lives. 2) When the Israelites stopped trusting in God, they asked for a king. They desired a good thing too much. 3) God sees partial obedience as complete disobedience. We need to say the same thing about our sin as God says about it. Sin is sin. No excuses, no buts. No weeeellls.
Verse 22 shows that obedience is a prerequisite to worship. We need to come to church with an obedient heart. And obedience can be worship.

This outfit was *almost* warm enough for the day. I just needed a scarf/shawl in church under the air conditioning. :) I love this blue hat, but this is basically my only skirt that matches it. So, I was happy to put it on this morning! :)
What was your sermon about? Have a great week!

  5. My sermon was on 1 Corinithians 1:18-? (end of chapter!)
The really cool part of church was actually when a new believer at church stood up and shared an idea he had-to all put our names in a bowl, and draw someone else's name and pray for that person all week. Not exactly a "new" idea, but for us it was so cool! The names ended up being even! And I felt like last night that I should pray first thing in the morning for the person I drew, and I woke up really early this morning and felt like I should pray for her. Well, I forgot that she gets up really early! God is so amazing!

That hat is hard to pair with stuff? I would think being turquoise it would go with a lot! Although I could see with the shape, it might not go with everything.
    Cute outfit! Love the skirt!

  10. My pastor has been going through the story of the Prodigal Son. Yesterday he was talking about how the son had to hit rock bottom before he acknowledged his sin and returned to his father. He compared the awakening to that of waking up to an alarm clock. Sometimes we hit the snooze button a million times and ignore it until we end up being late. He said that we tend to do the same thing with God. When He calls us back to him we make a million excuses. We think that before we acknowledge the Father we have to change ourselves, get our life in order, when He wants us to repent and accept His love just as we are.

And BTW Olivia, cuuuute hat! If you have anything yellow, it will match really well.... :)

Blue and yellow are two of my favorite contrasting colors of all time!

Unfortunately, I don't know what our sermon was about, because we were out of town all weekend, and driving to Minnesota early Sunday morning :p I think that I'll look in the bulletin next chance I get.
