My Birthday

Happy Tuesday, y'all! Thought I'd share the outfit I wore for my 20th birthday on Friday. It carried me from a comfortable morning at home, to a trip to Amish country, to a muddy picnic, to a pizza and talent night at our church.
My friend Laura Elizabeth took these shots for me. (If you're looking for a photographer in the Nashville/ Hohenwald area, check her out!) We had a great day traipsing around together.

This outfit was so comfortable and effortless. I love the ease of the fitted striped shirt, with slimming waistband and arm details. Mustard tank = perfect fall accent, and the brown linen skirt was the perfect weight. I ironed it after these pictures to perk it up again for the evening activities.

The day before my birthday, I woke up with an urge for a hair cut. A nice cut. One that is effortless by itself and makes me look grown up. So, as soon as the salon opened, I called and  made myself an appointment for 25 minutes later, even though it was a 23 minute drive. :P

The lady spent an hour and a half with me, washing, chopping, rechopping, blow drying, and styling my hair. I love it, and it made my weekend happy. Funny how hair can do that.

Laura and I on our way to picnic! Most enjoyable, and we had a small photoshoot!
Then, later, it seemed to be a trendy night for stripes! Kaliste and I both sported our F21 shirts. :)

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! It really was an amazing day, and I felt surrounded by love. :)
Now, being halfway to 40, I feel like time is ticking, so I better get a move on! ;)

  14. Happy Birthday!
I totally love those kinds of shirts, they are my favorite for fall and winter months. I love the long sleeves, and the fitted feel of them.
And I love your hair! It looks so cute that way <3

  21. Happy Birthday dearest Olivia!
I pray that the Lord will bless you richly as you live for Him... He has wonderful things in store for you dear! Keep looking Heavenward!

Your blog is such a blessing and encouragement to me - I want to thankyou for that. I pray that the Lord will continue to direct your paths as you serve Him!

Keep looking unto Jesus sweet Oliva! :)

    Love in our Precious Saviour,

P.S - I really, really love your hair cut! So beautiful and the style seems to really bring out the blonde-ness :)
If you don't mind me asking, how many layers did your stylist put in your hair? Your hair is sooo similar to mine, and i'm trying to find that 'happy medium' of how many layers/ how short to go with layers at the moment, so just thought i'd ask! :)
I'm going through the stage of really hating my hair, but not sure what to do with it, so just interested in knowing! :D
    God bless you!

    1. Thanks, Emily! I didn't really tell her a specific # of layers... just pointed to the longest layer I wanted (about 3" below shoulders), and said I wanted it interesting in the back with layers going up to just above my shoulders, and then flattering layers all around my face. I even got some side bangs. :) Hope that helps... not sure what else I could tell you!
      blessings,
      liv

  25. Happy Birthday! I was 21 when I got my "grown up" haircut...my last year in college and I went from hair that was all one length and halfway down my back to lots of layers and just past my shoulders. You're hair is beautiful!

  30. Hello, my name is Melissa and I found you through pinterest. I love your blog! The fact that you are following the Holy Bible in how Christian Ladies out to dress is extremely awesome! We are told to be modest and dress not in mens apparel. It seems that so many (so called Christians) look over that in the Bible, which is very sad!! Keep up the faith and may Gods smile always be upon you!!

  31. Wait...your birthday was Friday? O.o YET ANOTHER PERSON WHO SHARES MY BIRTHDAY. Or, well, actually, I share yours, since you're older than me. :p Anyway, happy birthday! I love the outfit. The tank really perks it up with that color. :)

  33. This is a rather odd question, but what kind of toothpaste do you use? (OK, a really odd question.) I was just wondering if you make your own and have a good recipe, or buy commercially. :) Thanks!

  41. Holy Crumbs. Thats a lot of comments, but I had to add my 2 cents to say, what a smashing outfit. Its so cas. and fallish which is why I love it. Glad you could have some birthday giddies like the hair cut and time with friends. This post is what I needed because I've just decided lately though I wear skirts 50-75 % that I would wear them mostly now because I love to be a woman and I want to be feminine like all the time this being especially important being a mom. A reminder to be gentle and refined rather than course and harsh...and to sport the political notion that I don't wear the pants in my marriage nor harbor a feminist chip on my shoulder that I've something to prove...I am a traditionalist in my role and a Christian through and through. This post reminded me of just how cute and sweet not too dressy, casual and wonderful as well as flattering skirts can be. It can be hard when all else and their dog dress in mostly pants, the flip flop, so thanks for the pick me up.
