I Like Wine

Howdee! It's a mildly chilly rainy day here in middle Tennessee. Kind of day to curl up in a hoodie and read a good book. So I'm going to make this a short post and do just that. Its been a carazy week and I need to rest so I can break my coffee addiction tomorrow.
I learned from last week and decided to make myself have at least a general idea of what I was going to wear to church on Saturday night. It was like 11:30 and I had a big headache, but walked into the closet to try anyway, praying I wouldn't have to stress. Amazingly, this just jumped out and in like 4 minutes I had it on to ask my sister's opinion. She liked it, so bingo!

I did something that you don't usually do with this outfit-- wore the cardigan under the dress. The dress and cardigan by themselves are each really pouffy, so by switching their usual roles, I was able to slim the outfit down. To keep the open-front cardigan from moving around, I tucked it into the skirt I wore to make the dress look longer, and safety-pinned the collar for modesty so I didn't have to wear a tank.

My hat is new from Charming Charlie. Have any of y'all been to one of these amazing stores? I went with some friends to ours for the first time on Friday, and Oh. my. lands. It's a huge color-organized jewelry store with hats and belts and purses and scarves. Fabulous, fabulous, affordable stuff. We spent almost 2 hours in there and still were finding stuff we hadn't seen as we were walking out of the store.

I've been evaluating my wardrobe lately and have discovered I really like this color, this wine/burgundy/oxblood shade. I've collected two cardigans, boots, sweater, and now a hat in it unintentionally.

Cardigan: F21 (worn here) $8
Dress: Thrift store (worn here) $4
Underskirt: Kohl's yeeeears ago. One of the first skirts I bought with the intention of wearing it more often than church. $10
Boots: Stein Mart  $35, although upon reflection, maybe I should have worn these boots?  Or would that have been too much wine color?
Earrings: Walmart
Hat: Charming Charlie, on clearance $5

Alrighty, hope y'all have a great Lord's Day. How's your week been?

  6. Very cute, classy outfit! So did you actually read? You claim you don't like reading I thought. What did you read? I actually started a book yesterday! The first time I've read something that wasn't a textbook since I started college last fall! Don't you guys usually fellowship with your church family, in the afternoon and late, into the evening/night, on Sunday afternoons after church?

    1. Thanks, Katie! I read about a page and a half before I had to eat dinner. :P I read "A Call To Wonder" by RC Sproul Jr. It's really good. I'm not a big reading fan, but I'm trying to get into it.
I blogged and read during the 2 hours or so we were home between church meetings and going back over for a video and worldview discussion, which was wonderful. :) Just got home about 10 pm. :)

  9. I really love the detailing on the dress neck line!
And wearing-the-cardigan-under-the-dress- idea, is neat! Probably more of a winter thing to do though, (in NZ we are in the the heights of summer)...

My week has been HOT and busy. On Sunday (yesterday for us) was my sister's baptism, and on Thursday it will be her birthday.... :D

  10. What a great way you worked the outfit. It's really cute. I would like to try out a Charming Charlie's, but I've never seen one around here. I will have to do a search and see where the closest one is.

  12. Cute! I would have never thought to put the cardigan underneath the dress. I would wear this outfit, minus the hat -- I just can't seem to pull off fadoras. =P Haha! We have a Charming Charlie's fairly near where I live. It's pretty cool!

  15. Adorable, as always, Olivia!
I actually had a fantastic week! Very nice, fairly calm and very little drama! ;)
I was so glad when someone told me about putting a dress or skirt under another dress or skirt to make it longer! It opens up so many possibilities!

  19. This is such a cute outfit. :)

And oh, Charming Charlie's...my friends rave about that store. They're in love with it. Everyone in my school/church gets all their accessories there. I just never liked it! Haha I feel like it is overpriced and most of their stuff isn'treally my style. I do like the organization though. I have yet to find something that I like at a charming charlie's which Iknow sounds crazy. I always think I'll go there if I'm looking for a specific color necklace for a specific outfit or something. All of my jewelry comes from Forever 21 haha

  20. I was able to go to Charming Charlie for the first time last summer!! I was able to get some cute jewelry that I love. :) Super cute hat, love it! :)

  21. I have a deep shade of wine or burgundy in a long skirt that I love... I always struggle with matching it though! Black, grey, or white are the only colors that seem to work with it but my tops in those colors are so basic pairing them together ends in boring. I look forward to seeing how you use it. (:

  22. I think the wine colored boots would've worked well with the outfit, because you would have the wine in 3 different "sections" of your outfit, and it would work well to draw the eye up to your face. :) But the grey ones are cute too!
I LOVE Charming Charlie! I've never bought anything in there, I hardly ever go on shopping sprees, but if I did, I would make that a definite stop.

  23. I like the wine color too. Hope to get to Charming Charlie's soon.
