Timeless Fall Ensembles: Inspiration from 2012

Hey y'all! Fall is one of the trickiest seasons for me personally to dress for because it's chilly, but warm/hot in the sunshine, sometimes really wet, and often windy. It feels out of place to wear the furs, fuzzy scarves, and cashmere sweaters that come with winter, but I need something warm and cozy and good for any muddy occasion.

One of my goals as I craft my wardrobe is to collect styles and fashions that are classic and don't look out of date the next year. So, I thought I'd share some of my favorite easy outfits from last fall as reminders to us of what works in this odd season. Some of y'all may remember these. :) Click on the link below the picture to read the full post, including where I got each item.

This memory-jog was really good for me and helped me remember some pieces I had forgotten about! Hope y'all have a lovely day and use every minute for His Glory!

  1. Love love your fall fashion. I'd wear everything! It is so hard to find peplum shirts with sleeves, love the color of yours and the material.

  2. Everything is beautiful! Here up North though, this year, some have had snow already! So most of these would have worked earlier in the year for me. :) I'm already wearing most of my heavy sweaters {thankfully not into winter coats though yet!!}. :D Thanks for sharing your lovely inspirations!

  4. You are on a roll this week!!! Happy *belated* birthday from someone you don't know! :P And thank you so much for the Godly example you set for us young ladies. You have no idea how much you have encouraged my sister and I, through your eye-opening sermon notes, your outfit ideas and tips, and how you strive to be shown as "real", not perfect, to your blog readers. I do not usually comment, but I just wanted to say "thank you". :) I think of all your amazing dressing tips, the one that my sister and I have used the most is the t-shirt one. :) We seem to have a habit of saving the nice clothes for going out and using the t-shirts for bumming around the house, so the tips really helped us feel like we had a nice, put-together outfit that can stand to get ruined by the end of the day. It seems I can't even cook without having to change for fear of someone coming to the door and seeing me wearing our family's dinner!

Fall is usually my favorite season, but this year it seemed that Summer went too fast for my family, with moving and having a new little addition in the same three months. :P So I feel odd that everyone has the boots, cardigans and scarves "bug" going around that I usually look forward to in the Fall and here I am still stubbornly wearing my short sleeve shirts, knee-length jean skirts and capris! :D But you are helping me start to get excited about Fall! :) Thank you again for the inspiration!

  5. Loving all these outfits!!! I have been wearing my Fresh Modesty inspired skirt a lot lately, and the warm weather we've been having here in Colorado has allowed me to still wear my short sleeved shirts! I know cold weather is just around the corner, so I will take advantage of each warm day the Lord gives us! God Bless :)

  7. Hi Olivia,
Do you have an email address that I can contact you on? The contact button on this page doesn't seem to work, and the contact form on your sewing blog isn't there either.

  8. Hi Olivia,
I was wondering how you keep your legs warm during fall/winter. tights, leggings? i always freeze -rebeca k.

    1. Leggings, tights, thigh-high socks, and pj pants! ;) I wear simple footless leggings I buy at Walmart under almost all of my skirts in the winter. If I wear a shorter skirt that the leggings would show, I usually wear tights or panty hose. :) Thicker skirts like denim or heavier knit also help keep you warm! :)

  11. All are so lovely!
I learned last year that the best shirts/skirts to buy are solid colored! They go with many different things, whereas when you have 10 printed skirts that only go with one thing...not that I've done that! LOL! Yeah...

  12. I loved this post. Your outfits are classy and trendy but still something someone who isn't in to fashion could put together.

Are you still doing the baking soda/vinegar method of hair washing? If so, I would love it if you could give us an update with some tips. I started washing my hair with baking soda/vinegar in August inspired by your post. I have stuck with it and would love to read someone else's experiences.

    1. I've stuck to it too! Well, with the exception of a few hurried-no-time-for-fancy-washes,-power cut-showers. :)

    3. That's awesome! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! I have discovered recently that my hair does better when I leave the baking soda solution and vinegar solutions on for 10-15 minutes or so each

  14. I love coming to your blog and seeing so many great and modest outfits! I think that my favorite outfit of the ones here would be Western Willies, and running across the Parking lot twice in bare-feet, sounds like something that I would do! Haha, You always give me a laugh and say something very uplifting! I just wanna say that I have been reading your blog for over a year now and really enjoy it! Keep up the awesome work!
