Favorite Skirt Redux

Hey y'all! I thought I'd share another ensemble with my favorite fall skirt (I posted about it 3 weeks ago) to give an idea of how just changing the accessories can create a whole new outfit! :)

// outfit details //
Sweater: ThredUP
Tank: Forever21: $1.80
Hat: Charming Charlie's: $8
Shoes: Borrowed from my sister, from Kmart
Earrings: Droplette

Guess what, girls?! This weekend we're having a little party on Facebook.com/freshmodesty that has several awesome benefits:
1) You get a chance to do some Christmas shopping.
2) You will feel good about this shopping because it will directly benefit Amanda+Ben's adoption fund! They are hoping to bring a precious child home from Taiwan.
3) You might win a $25 coupon!

Go to {this link} for more information! Friday, 11-21-14 at 7:30 CST! :)

I am getting more and more excited for the coming new year and all the opportunities that are starting to line up. Life is such a crazy journey! So much is in store for Fresh Apparel and Fresh Modesty! I'll share details as soon as I possibly can. :D

One thing I'm considering is hosting a Sewing Camp for Fresh Modesty readers! I'd like to know what the interest is before I go any farther with planning. So, if you would consider coming to Tennessee (an hour west of Nashville) and learning how to sew for 4-5 days, please shoot me an email (freshmodesty@gmail.com) with the subject line "Sewing Camp" and that will help me with planning. There would be some cost associated with it, but nothing unreasonable. :) Ages 13-22 please. I'm excited to hear from you! Space will be limited.

I think I drank too much coffee today. I'm bouncing up and down in my chair surrounded by to-do lists and blog post ideas and marketing strategies and speaking outlines (oh, wait, that's a secret!) and patterns and business books and Emma just brought me hot cocoa and I think I may type out another post tonight and and and I have so much more to do but the internet is so slow I want to pull my hair out...

Speaking of my sister, I found this super cute picture of her in our suuuuuuper messy closet and thought this post needed some reality. Every post with gorgeous fall leaves in the background of the pictures does. :D

So, three call-to-actions:

2) Email me if you would like to learn to sew!
3) Comment and share what you've been up to this week! :D

  2. A sewing camp is a neat idea! I'm sure you'll be a fantastic teacher! Just not sure how realistic it is to get from Washington state to Tennessee...
I've been painting, sewing, and procrastinating. Just the usual. ;)

Just thought I'd mention how much I enjoy reading your posts. I get so excited when I see you post a new one!

  3. I tried to purchase this skirt but they were sold out. Do you know if they will be bringing this back? Also do you mind me asking how tall you are? The skirt said 42" long. Great blog.

    1. NOOOOOOO.... I was hoping to order another! I don't know if they will or not. I may have to email them. I'm barely 5'2". I just fold the waistband more to accommodate for the length.

  4. I know you said to email you but commenting is easier for me. :) I would LOVE it if you had a sewing camp! I think it would be so much fun!

    1. Well, if you'd like to email me and let me know what state you live in, how old you are, and whether you think you could actually come, then I'll have a better idea of how to plan! :)

    2. I live WAY too far away but I'm sure other girls would enjoy it!!!

  5. Hi Olivia!
The sewing camp idea is so cool! I live in Minnesota so that is a little out of my way. I have a fun thrifting story! I was at the thrift store and my mom brought over a sweater dress to try on. it was to tight, but when i put it on the return rack i found two more dresses that fit perfectly!

  6. Hey, Olivia! I love that skirt sooo much! I'm going to have to check the thrift store for one like it! Your outfits are all so gorgeous! Sewing camp sounds fun, but I'm next to positive I would never be able to make it :/

I've been sewing a costume, reading, watching old time movies, schoolwork, singing, and guitar playing. Reading takes up most of my time though!

Always love seeing that you posted!

    Blessings,
    Ruth

  7. Oh!! A sewing camp sounds like so much fun. I know a little bit of sewing but I was never great at it, so this sounds great. That's about 9 hours from here though...but something to stew on for sure! I absolutely love your hat, by the way :)

  8. I would love to learn how to sew, but I don't know when I'm going to be in the US. And flying from Europe to the US just to learn how to sew, I don't know.

  9. Olivia hi, my name is Vanessa, I am Brazilian and I also have a blog which help women to dress modestly. I was delighted with you and your blog, I'm always on facebook sharing their looks. I'm sorry if something is out of context, is why my English is not so good yet. God bless you, kisses.

  10. Olivia a sewing camp sounds so awesome!! Unfortunately I live 9 hours away from you :( Fortunately however I am moving to your state soon! So if you do this and it works out for you then I may totally be interested in a year or two!!! ;)

  11. Loved this post, haha :)! Caffeine actually has no effect on me... actually, let me rephrase that. Having caffeine doesn't make me go wild. But I am told by a friend that she can always tell when I haven't had coffee that day, because I'm weird. Hahahaha!
We started decorating for Christmas yesterday! Other than that, and lots of cleaning, we haven't done too much unusual this week. I do need to get busy, though, because, though the week hasn't been bad, I was behind when it started :P. Really want to get caught up this week so that I can start Christmas presents next week!
    Blessings,
    Bri

  12. Cute outfit! Your facebook party sounds fun! I'm not on facebook, and I usually don't feel like I'm missing out on much, except when it comes to things like this. (and your courtship chat!)
Living in California, it's pretty unlikely that I would make it to Tennessee for 4-5 days, but it sounds awesome for others! Hope you have a great turnout!
With a week off of my once-a-week writing class (which usually consumes most of my waking hours the rest of the week - kind of self induced, I love to write!) I have had so much time catching up on other things that I've fallen behind on, like math, (which I actually enjoy when I have the time to sit down and do it) illustrating my friend's story, baking, learning to play the cello.
You and your sisters are so beautiful! I wished I looked as put together as you guys do on a daily basis. :)
    Blessings!

  14. Your sewing camp does sound fun I live in Ohio so that would kind of be difficult to attend. So ..maybe you could videotape lessons and post them?

  15. I love this skirt, its beautiful, soooo wish I had one! And that hat is gorgeous with the feathers! I soooo wish I could come to a sewing camp if you decided to go through with it, but sadly I live overseas in Australia! But I think a sewing boot camp is a fabulous idea!!! Loved this post, so can't wait to read more from you! I always get excited when there are new posts!

  16. Hi Olivia,

I would love to come to your camp, but I don't know if I would be able to get there.

How far are you from Knoxville? We have some friends there that I might be able to stay with..

  17. I've been busy balancing our house budget for the first time since moving into our new place! And on top of that, I had to go to the doctor today for a ulnar contusion, which was long, and boring, but I got a brace that makes me feel 75% better, and some prescription grade anti-inflammatory which should FINALLY give me some relief after four days!

  18. Ah! I am beyond pumped to hear that things are going well with Fresh Apparel!!! It has had a special place in my heart and prayers lately. :) Even though I wouldn't be able to do it, the sewing camp sounds AWESOME, and I hope you're able to make it happen! Emma is so cute. You both are. This week I've been working hard on school and lots of play practices, which we'll be performing this weekend! Super exciting, but also just a wee bit stressful. ;) Pray it goes well :) It's really coming together, but there is still lots we need to do!

  19. I love the outfit! You did an awesome job of restyling it for us :)

This week has been pretty normal and quiet for me. The most important things I've been up to are schoolwork and then tonight's online job, which was inviting a lot of people to a Facebook Lilla Rose party that I am co-hosting. It's going to be a lot of fun--this is the first time I've done something of that magnitude before and it'll be awesome :)

Your speaking outlines sound incredible. I can't wait to hear more about it :)

  20. Would you ever consider offering your skirts at customizable hem lengths? I'm almost 6 feet tall, and finding pants and skirts that are long enough usually involves a lot of time and tears. If you're shorter, you can always take the extra length off, but if you're too tall no praying in the world will add it on there. (I know. I've tried.)

    1. My skirts on FreshApparel.us are a custom hem length, but the max I can do is 42". Would that work for you?

    2. That would be glorious.

  22. Hey Olivia! What a great outfit! I've come close to buying that skirt from SSC, but can't bring myself to spend that much on one item, even though it's so flattering and perfect for the F/W season. The only time I've ever splurged that much is for the A#17 from FA! :) ;)

I love that fedora! It looks great with that skirt!

  25. I love the burgundy hat. I only have a few hats but I know you have a lot of hats and I was wondering if you could tell us how you store/organize them. I don't seem to be able to come up with a good way to store the few I have and keep their shape properly. Thanks!
