Tunics All Summer Long

 Hey y'all! How are you? It's been another long week of skirt hemming and documentary watching here.

 One documentary in particular, "The True Cost", really opened my eyes to an area of our world that I must do my part to change. I'm hoping to flesh out my thoughts for a post on it soon, but it's proving hard to condense into something that y'all would actually read. :P

 This Karen Kane tunic has been a favorite of mine this summer. It's comfortable, cool, and easy to wear. Plus, with that awesome print, you can't tell if I get anything on it that stains. :}

// outfit details \\
Karen Kane Tunic: $21.99 from ThredUP
American Eagle Artist cut jeans: $13.99 from ThredUP
Flipflops: Target years ago
Tunic: $1.90 from Forever 21

I often get asked if I have naturally curly or straight hair... well, here we have my undone hair. It's straight with a little bit of texture, but definitely no curl. It's been a while since I've had it cut and now it's at a weird length that it doesn't lay right without fixing it some way, so I have it pulled back most days.

What have you been up to this week? Have you seen "The True Cost" yet?

  3. We watched "The True Cost" just this past Sunday, and our eyes were opened to the rather corrupt industry of the fast fashion world. Since then we've been trying to be a bit more picky and selective when it comes to purchasing from which brands... and the dream to purchase only organic cotton lingers high above our heads in our clouds of dreams... ;)

  7. "The True Cost" is a great documentary! I think I need to watch it again. I buy clothes almost entirely second hand to avoid endorsing fast fashion, but I also work as a shoe designer. Thankfully our factories are great and everyone is making a living wage - which means the shoes we sell are in the hundreds. It makes me so angry to see new shoes selling for $10 or less. The people who put that shoe together can't have made more than a few cents (and I won't even get started on how quickly it ends up in the landfill). I don't think a lot of people realize it, but the industry responds to consumer demands. What we buy tells the companies what we want more of, and if we stop buying fashion that hurts people, it'll stop getting made. I could rant for hours about this so I'll stop now, haha. But I would love to hear your thoughts in a future blog post! It's not a pleasant topic, but I think it's really important.

  9. I love all of your tunics! I wish I had more of them--I have trouble finding ones that are long enough. In addition to being modest, they are just super cute!

  13. I love your tunic - turquoise is one of my favourite colours.

    I always admire the way you show that it is possible to wear pants in a modest way. You were a great inspiration to me when I was considering starting to wear pants two years ago and I will always appreciate it.
